Doug Wholey , Ph.D.

Doug Wholey is a professor of organizations and management. He is particularly interested in professional organization, managing professionals, and the social structure of markets. He is interested in rural health care, particularly public health organization, and has studied managed care markets, managed care organizations, social service and health networks, information systems, and teams. His current research examines social networks in medical clinics and team management in assertive community treatment teams. His teaching focuses on public health management, information systems and information use, lean management, and managing networks.

Dr. Wholey holds M.B.A. and Ph.D. degrees from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley. His Ph.D. is in organizational behavior and industrial relations, with a strong background in organizational sociology. In 1995, Dr. Wholey, Roger Feldman, and Jon Christianson were awarded the National Institute for HealthCare Management Research Award. In 1996, Dr. Wholey became a fellow of the Association for Health Services Research.
